
Wayne Jenkins is a woodsman, fly-fisherman, and a keen observer of birds, animals, and their habitat. He is a self taught oil painter of wildlife and landscape through which he expresses his love and understanding of the natural world. Wayne’s interest in painting began at the age of nine when his father realized his talent at sketching animals and bought him a set of oil paints. He was encouraged by teachers in elementary school and secondary school but did not receive formal art education. He attended the University of Connecticut majoring in animal husbandry. He has had shows at the Norfolk Library, The Mount Washington Hotel, the Yale School of Art, and has also participated in numerous juried shows of the Housatonic Valley Art League, of which he is current president. He lives with his wife Wendy, in Canaan, Connecticut. He has two grown children, Holly and Brian.
