Fay O'meara states: "Quite simply, my work is the outcome of my lifelong compulsion to make things. It is a very strong force and I never remember not feeling it. Art making has become for me a kind of self-realization through an exploration of methods materials. I work with wood, wax, and fiber. I find myself drawn to these three mediums because of their tactile nature and their long history of utilitarian usage. My work is mostly formal in nature. My fixation with a particular shape or color can last for years. At times I am surprised by the subtle consistencies between my current work and that which I created as a child." She teaches at IS183 Art School of the Berkshires and maintains a studio in Winsted, CT.
